How The Ionizer Plus™ Works The Oxy-Water™ Water ionizer Plus connects via a diverter valve to your kitchen faucet. With the valve in one position it routes the water through the machine. With the valve in the other position, you may use your sink as you normally would.

FILTRATION: The water routed through the water ionizer first encounters the carbon portion of the filter where chlorine and chemicals are absorbed. Next it goes through a hollow-fiber membrane. This state-of-the-art filter removes everything larger than .1 micron (one tenth of a micron), including all bacteria. This feature will eliminate such bacteria as EColi, giardia, and crypto sporidium. ELECTROLYSIS: Then, the water is treated with direct current in a process called electrolysis, resulting in the splitting of oxygen and hydrogen. Although micro-filtration will yield safe, clean water, the electrolysis treatment is the most important function of the product. After converting household current to direct current, the water enters an electrolysis chamber where there is a series of electrodes separated by a membrane. This membrane allows calcium, potassium, and magnesium, which are cations or positively charged ions, to be attracted to the cathode (negatively charged electrolysis terminal). The minerals at this point become ionized and, therefore, much more bio-available; otherwise, the inorganic minerals found in water are too large to absorb. The membrane allows the water now concentrated with minerals to be separated for drinking. The direct current breaks the covalent bond of the water. Water molecules cluster together at 12-14 molecules per cluster. This is sometimes known as surface tension. The Oxy-Water™ Water Ionizer Plus breaks the bond electronically resulting in water that is “wetter”, more permeable, and more soluble. The water hydrates the body about six times faster and deeper and acts as a transport mechanism for the minerals. The concentrating of the minerals results in water that is alkaline. The alkaline water also contains more available stable oxygen because hydrogen is given off at the cathode.

Last, the charge of the water (ORP or oxidation reduction potential) is changed. Typically tap water has a small electrical charge of about +400 milli volts. Such water is oxidative, which means it takes an electron away (metals rust by oxidation). The charge of the Water     Ionizer Plus’ alkaline water is usually between -100 and -350 milli volts (this depends upon the minerals available in the water for electrolysis). In chemistry this is referred to as “reduced” meaning that it has an extra electron and donates it to free radicals in the body. This water has been written up in peer-reviewed journals as a superior antioxidant or free radical scavenger.

The alkaline water separated by the membrane is delivered for drinking by the stainless steel fully adjustable hose/spout from the top of the device.

The acidic water on the other side of the membrane comes out the secondary hose into your sink for collection or disposal.
